Alok trained at UCL Medical School. He achieved an MBBS qualification and was awarded the Chadwick prize in preventative medicine and public health. After training as a junior surgeon in Greater London, he completed a one year post-graduate MSc.
Alok spent the next six years training in plastic and cosmetic surgery. In 2007, he passed the FRCS(Plast) exam and went on to specialise in microvascular reconstruction of the breast, face and lower limb at the internationally renowned Chang Gung Hospital in Taiwan and Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit in Glasgow.
After further aesthetic fellowship training, he was appointed consultant plastic surgeon in East Yorkshire, specialising in reconstructive breast surgery for breast cancer patients and facial reconstruction.
He currently practices as consultant plastic surgeon at Hillingdon, Heatherwood & Wexham Park NHS Hospitals. He regularly performs hand and wrist surgery, breast surgery, skin cancer, microvascular reconstruction and abdominal and perineum reconstruction.
He has published widely in the field of plastic surgery and presented over 30 papers in, both national and international, plastic and cosmetic surgery conference meetings.
In the past, Alok Misra has sat as a Council Member at the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and its Professional Standards Committee. He has also been Speciality Lead in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery at Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals.
Alok also founded and taught at the Wexham Park Plastic Surgery Revision course for the final year plastic surgery trainees in the UK.
He now continues to teach surgical skills to budding surgeons as a faculty member of the Basic Surgical Skills course of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He also holds a medical advisory position to advise in plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery at a local private hospital.
